The Bevilacqua Factory

On my recent trip to Venice, I had the pleasure of visiting the Bevilacqua looms in Santa Croce. It was truly an incredible experience to walk through rooms of ancient machinery--many of their looms are over 300 years old. One fact that blew my mind: the fabrics are made at the same high quality required by the Doges in the 1700s.

As you may know, our New York showroom is now offering Bevilacqua Velvets. What you may not know is that Fortuny is working with Bevilacqua to develop a new line of colors for their velvets--the first realization of these is available in our New York Showroom. Venice is in the very soul of both companies, and we are excited to work together to bring our deeply authentic, Venetian collaboration to New York and all of our representatives around the world!

During our visit, Frederica told me about some of their oldest velvets in the church Santa Maria Della Salute. Here are some photos from my visit after leaving the Bevilacqua showroom and looms:

If you're ever in Venice, I would highly recommend visiting Bevilacqua and Santa Maria della Salute. The looms are in Santa Croce, and they are open to the public during the work day. -Maury
